Join us!

The DeNardo and Wilke labs are currently seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic postdocs, graduate students, and undergraduate students to join our efforts!

Wilke Laboratory post-doctoral fellow position: We are currently starting a new search for a post-doc position to study the role of anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) circuits in mediating effort-based decision making. This project involves dissecting the functional role of inputs and outputs to the ACC using optogenetics and studying local neural computations in the ACC using miniscope calcium imaging. This research is specifically focused on the role of dopaminergic projections to ACC in influencing these computations and the resulting changes in behavior. We are seeking especially those with PhD experience in calcium imaging, data analysis in Matlab/Python, mouse behavior and optogenetics, but all interested individuals should apply. Please send reach out to Dr. Wilke directly, as per instructions below.

Postdoctoral and technician candidates, please send:

1) a cover letter describing your present and future research interests

2) your CV

3) names and contact information for 3 references to ldenardo@ucla.edu or swilke-at-mednet.ucla.edu

Graduate Students:

Dr. DeNardo is currently affiliated with the NSIDP and MCIP graduate programs and will be accepting rotation students beginning Spring, 2019. Prospective students are encouraged to apply to interdepartmental PhD programs through the UCLA Graduate Programs in Biosciences.

Undergraduate Students:

The Wilke Lab is seeking highly motivated undergraduate researchers to develop experiments using optogenetics, in vivo calcium imaging and mouse behavior. We are specifically looking for students who will be able to work in the lab over the summer. Applicants should have a minimum of 10 hours per week to devote to a research project and be willing to commit to at least one year in the lab. This work does require 4-5 hour blocks of open time, since each part of such experiments is long.

Undergraduates are integral to the research mission of our laboratory and are directly involved in conducting all aspects of our research. This is a tremendous opportunity for aspiring neuroscientists, but consistent effort is needed to learn these techniques. We believe that above all, neuroscience research is fun and exciting and look to build team-oriented approaches to our work. Come join us!

For undergraduate candidates interested in joining the Wilke Lab, please submit a cover letter, CV and academic transcript to Dr. Wilke at swilke_at_mednet.ucla.edu
